New search for missing woman, 79 Hope almost gone over pensioner
(1 day later)
Grampian Police are to mount a high visibility operation to try to trace an elderly woman, a week after she went missing from her Aberdeen home. The husband of a 79-year-old woman missing from her Aberdeen home for more than a week has said he has virtually no hope of her being found alive.
Officers will be out on the streets in the Bucksburn area around 79-year-old Eileen Murray's home, in a bid to jog people's memories. Eileen Murray was last seen by her husband at their home on 6 December.
They will stop and question passers-by and hand out leaflets appealing for information about Mrs Murray. Grampian Police were on the streets of Bucksburn on Sunday, a week on, in the hope of getting clues.
Detectives said they were still "extremely concerned for her". Husband Iain Murray told BBC Scotland: "I have almost given up hope. I am just hoping there will be a resolution very soon."
Mr Murray has rarely left the family home in the last week as he waits for news.
The couple's two sons have been trying to keep his spirits up.
Mrs Murray suffered from depression in the past but her condition was thought to have improved over the last few months.
Grampian Police officers were questioning passers-by and handing out leaflets appealing for information about Mrs Murray on Sunday evening.
