Detectives have established that Nasim Jamil spoke to a friend on the phone at about 1500 GMT on the day she died. Her body was discovered almost five hours later by her daughter at her flat in Byres Road on 9 December. The 54-year-old, who worked on Asian community radio station Awaz FM, died from "severe head injuries" following a "brutal attack". Det Ch Insp Louise Raphael, who is in charge of the investigation, said the main focus was trying to establish a motive for the murder. She said: "Officers, both uniform and CID, remain in the area carrying out extensive inquiries and we are making progress in narrowing down the timeframe of establishing when the attack took place. "We now know she spoke to a friend on the telephone around 3pm that day, however, it's unclear whether or not she left the house again after this time. "We have had an encouraging response so far from the local community and I would like to reassure them that everything possible is being done to trace the person or persons responsible for this crime." |
