A large-scale police operation will be staged in Glasgow later in a bid to catch the killer of a radio agony aunt. The body of Nasim Jamil was found by her daughter at her flat in Byres Road, in the city's west end, on 9 December. The 54-year-old, who worked on Asian community radio station Awaz FM, died following a "brutal attack". Officers will interview people in the area on Wednesday. An ad trailer with a picture of Mrs Jamil will also be driven round the area. In addition, leaflets and posters will be handed out to residents and retailers. Det Ch Insp Louise Raphael, of Strathclyde Police, said she hoped the information would gather new leads for the investigation. "So far our response from the local community has been encouraging but I would like to repeat my appeal to anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Byres Road during the afternoon or evening of the 9th, or to anyone who may have information, to make contact with us," she said. "Byres Road is an extremely busy road and today's operation is about jogging the memories of members of the public who were in the area last Wednesday when Nasim was brutally murdered." |
