Water supplies restored to homes
(1 day later) | |
Water supplies have been restored to thousands of properties in north Glasgow and Bishopbriggs.
Scottish Water engineers worked through the night on the "difficult repair" which followed a mains failure.
This led to low pressure and a loss of supply to about 9,500 properties, with bottled water being provided.
However, about 5,500 properties in the Barlornock, Royston and Millerston areas of Glasgow will continue to experience temporary loss of supply.
A Scottish Water spokesman said it would take several hours before supplies returned to normal and that some customers may experience discoloured water as the supply is restored.
Bottled water | |
John Rae, Scottish Water's general manager for water operations, said: "Our engineers have done everything possible to restore full supply to our customers in the affected areas throughout north Glasgow and Bishopbriggs.
"In order to reduce disruption to our customers thousands of litres of bottled water has already been distributed to key locations in the affected area and this will continue until supplies are restored."
Bottled water has also been delivered directly to special needs customers.
Mr Rae added: "We would like to take this opportunity to apologise to our customers for this inconvenience and assure them that we are doing all we can to minimise the level of disruption to those affected."
The areas affected were in Robroyston, Auchinairn, Zena Street in Barmulloch, Broomfield Road in Springburn and the Wester Cleddens Road area of Bishopbriggs. |
