Arnie meets SNP climate minister
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/scotland/8418789.stm Version 0 of 1. Scotland's climate change minister has met California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger at the UN climate change summit in Copenhagen. Stewart Stevenson presented the Holywood movie star with a bottle of 42% whisky. The gift was chosen to highlight Holyrood's tough targets to reduce carbon emissions by 42% by 2020. The pair met at the Climate Group Gala reception as the summit edged towards its conclusion. Mr Schwarzenegger failed to show at an event earlier this week where he was expected to speak alongside Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond. The California governor has praised Scotland's carbon-cutting targets, saying they had sent a message to the rest of the world that swift action was needed. The meeting came as the Danish presidency of the climate summit sought to play down expectations of a comprehensive deal emerging from the meeting. Officials said progress could be made, but an international agreement may have to wait until a 2010 meeting in Mexico. |
