Entertainer Darren Day has appeared in court accused of crashing into a lamp post in Edinburgh while being over the legal drink-driving limit.
The 41-year-old was stopped in his Mercedes on Manor Place in the city in the early hours of Friday.
Mr Day, who is appearing in We Will Rock You at Edinburgh Playhouse, denied a total of six charges and had his car seized.
A date for a trial has been set for January 2010.
Mr Day is accused of failing to stop and report the alleged crash and identify himself to police.
The actor faced a further charge of failing to co-operate with a preliminary breath test.
The former ITV You Bet show presenter is said to have driven with 58mg of alcohol in 100ml of his breath - the limit being 35mg in 100ml of breath.
Weapon charge | |
Mr Day faces an alternative allegation to the drink-driving charge which alleges he failed to give two breath specimens for analysis at Drylaw Police Station.
A sixth charge alleges Mr Day was in possession of a kubotan, a small stick-like weapon, also on Friday at Balfour Street.
Defence agent Robert Frazer told Edinburgh Sheriff Court Mr Day denied the offences and made no objection to the fiscal's request for a warrant to seize his Mercedes.
