Murder suspect formally charged Man remanded over care home death

An 82-year-old man from Devon is due before magistrates later charged with murdering a fellow care home resident. An 82-year-old Devon man charged with murdering a fellow care home resident has been remanded in custody after appearing in court.

The pair were not related or said to be in a relationship with each other. Mr Woodroof is due to appear before magistrates in Torquay. Mr Woodroof appeared at Torquay Magistrates' Court, held in a custody suite at the town's police station.
Police were called to Hyne Town House at about 2230 GMT on Wednesday by paramedics who had attempted to resuscitate Mrs Hawken, who was later pronounced dead at Torbay Hospital. The defendant, who has Parkinson's disease and is blind in one eye, was taken into the room in a wheelchair.
He is due to appear at Plymouth Crown Court on 11 January.
'Isolated incident'
Mr Woodroof was not related to the 92-year-old or said to be in a relationship with her.
