Police close road after incident

A residential street in the Canton area of Cardiff has been cordoned off by police following an incident.

It is understood Pen Y Peel Road has been shut to traffic and pedestrians since around 1000 GMT on Saturday.

Witnesses have described a high police presence in the area with some saying they have seen forensic officers there.

South Wales Police have not released any further information about the incident. The road is cordoned off from Cowbridge Road East.

One eye-witness said: "At the bottom of the road, it is all taped off.

"There is a lot of police there and we saw at least one scene-of-crime officer in a white suit.

"A police van pulled up when we were there and about seven officers got out.

"As far as I can tell no one is allowed into or out of the street."
