Comedian Lenny Henry has been given a plaque ahead of being honoured on Birmingham's Walk of Stars.

The Dudley-born comedian was awarded his plaque by Birmingham Lord Mayor at the city's Broad Street.

It will later be embedded on the street's Walk of Stars alongside those honouring other famous people from the West Midlands region.

Henry, 51, who is also a writer and actor, said he was "so chuffed" at being given the award.

He said: "My mom always said: 'If you're not careful in showbusiness, people are going to walk all over you.' And it's going to happen isn't it!

"This is brilliant, I'm so chuffed. This isn't just a cherry on the cake, it's like a cake on top of another cake, so I thank you for this, and I really appreciate it."

Actor Julie Walters, comedian Frank Skinner and sports commentator Murray Walker are among the stars already featured on the city's walkway.
