It is believed the fire in the property at Emmet Place was started when a burning object was pushed through the letterbox. Damage was caused to the hall area. Police have appealed for anyone who was in the area or has any information to contact them. Sinn Fein councillor Charlie Casey has condemned the attack. He said:"The fire service had to sledge hammer their way into the house in order to get the fire under control. "There are a number of homes in this area which could have quite easily caught fire. "Whoever was responsible for this attack cared little for the lives of the people in this area. Anyone with any information which could bring these people to justice should come forward immediately. "I would also like to commend the fire service as without their swift actions we could be dealing with a much more serious incident." |
