A woman and her son have been jailed for life for arranging the murder of her husband to get his money.

Nigel Bacon, a 50-year-old gamekeeper, was stabbed at home in Clumber Park, Nottinghamshire, in November 2008.

Susan Bacon, 55, and Michael, 21, who denied arranging the killing were jailed for a minimum of 24 years and 21 years respectively

Peter Jacques 29, was jailed for 28 years at Nottingham Crown Court for carrying out the killing.

Mr Bacon, who was a part-time gamekeeper and ran a security company, was stabbed six times on his driveway and died of blood loss after staggering to his kitchen.

During the trial, the court heard he had more than £200,000 in bank accounts, safety deposit boxes and stored in the house.

Both Michael and Susan Bacon told the jury Mr Bacon had been violent towards them and Jacques had been hired only to scare him.

The court heard the 999 call made by Susan Bacon where she claimed her husband had been stabbed by a mystery assailant as he locked up for the night.
