A teenage boy has been charged with murder after an 18-year-old art student was found dead with stab wounds.

Police were called to Devons Road in Bow, east London, on Sunday where they found the body of Salum Kombo, who was studying art at Tower Hamlets College.

The Metropolitan Police said a 15-year-old boy from Bow was charged with the murder of Mr Kombo and would appear at Thames Magistrates' Court.

Police believe he was stabbed in a basketball court off Chiltern Road.

They think he may have staggered several hundred metres to Devons Road where he was found by a passer-by at about 6.40pm on Sunday.

Mr Kombo, who is the 13th teenager to be murdered in the capital this year, was declared dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination will take place on Tuesday.
