A couple who met on a blind date at a pantomime have held their wedding reception - at a pantomime.

Jason Hamlyn and his bride Annette Luscombe, from Devon, held a party at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth.

The bride and groom, who met there two years ago, said it was the most romantic venue they could imagine.

Christopher Biggins, starring as Widow Twanky in Aladdin, joined in the fun as 62 guests enjoyed a wedding banquet and then trooped in to see the panto.

'Such a romantic'

As soon as the interval began, they rushed out to cut the cake and propose the toasts before dashing back in to watch the second half of the show.

When the curtain came down, the bar was opened for a special wedding party.

"Jason's such a romantic," said Annette. "We met on a blind date two years ago at the panto at the Theatre Royal after texting each other for a while.

"We fell in love on our first date and that was it. That's why the Theatre Royal is so important to us."

Jason, inventor of cycle parking locker BikeAway, said: "I just think this place, the Theatre Royal, is just the most romantic thing on the planet."

Christopher Biggins said: "I don't think people realise how romantic pantomimes are.

"I love romanticism and it's absolutely fantastic that this gorgeous couple have decided bring all their guests to the pantomime."

The wedding ceremony was held earlier at St Mary's And All Saints in Plymstock.
