Rain, sleet and snow was expected to fall in some areas overnight on frozen roads and paths. There has been fresh snow in Wrexham and Denbighshire and the A542 is closed at the Horseshoe Pass.
The Met Office advised motorists to take extra care and refer to the Traffic Wales service for further advice on road conditions. Police say driving conditions are also hazardous on the A469 Caerphilly mountain road. Meanwhile, a water main has burst near Holywell in Flintshire.
Welsh Water said the burst in the early hours is affecting water supplies to several hundred customers in Lixwm, Holywell and the Cilcain and Pantymwyn areas of Mold.
The burst is in Bryn Cerrig, Lixwm, and a repair team is at work on site.
Icy pavements
The company apologised and said it was unable to say what has caused the burst and if it is related to the weather.
