Big Brother cash for Comic Relief

Some of the profits from the final series of Celebrity Big Brother are to go to Comic Relief, Channel 4 has said.

The broadcaster said it would donate 15p to the charity out of the 50p cost of each call to the vote line.

The seventh series of the reality TV show, which begins on 3 January, has the tagline "hell lies in others".

Earlier this week a High Court judge told Boy George he could not take part in the show after the singer tried to lift a Probation Service ban.

'Natural end point'

He was barred from appearing following his early release on licence from prison for imprisoning a male escort.

Channel 4 announced in August it would broadcasting its last series of the main show in 2010 because it had "reached a natural end point".

The station has been the home of the programme since it began in 2000, and will honour its deal to screen series 11 next summer.

TV presenter Ulrika Jonsson was crowned the winner of this year's show in January.

Comic Relief raised a record £57m this year from its one-night TV extravaganza for disadvantaged people in Africa and the UK.
