Version 0 of 1.

A convicted double rapist who absconded from the Pakistan High Commission in London in October has been arrested.

Imtiaz Hussain, 44, was taken there to get a passport so he could be deported at the end of a nine-year prison sentence, but fled and went on the run.

He is in the custody of the UK Borders Agency following his arrest in Wembley, north west London, on Wednesday.

Hussain, considered "very dangerous" by police, was jailed for trying to rape two women at knifepoint in Derbyshire.

'Gone in 90 seconds'

A senior diplomat complained to the Foreign Office and Home Office when Hussain absconded on 30 October in what he said was the space of 90 seconds.

Consul General Nafees Zakaria said CCTV footage showed the prisoner was not handcuffed and was escorted by a single guard.

Mr Zakaria, who accused immigration officers of "slackness", said the rapist was seen running out of the same door of the High Commission he came in through.

Hussain was subject to less security than those facing deportation for breaching immigration rules, Mr Zakaria added.

The Pakistani authorities lodged a formal complaint following the incident on the basis that UK officials failed to warn them Hussain was dangerous.

He escaped after telling his guard from G4S Care he needed to go to the toilet.
