The Suzuki car in which he was travelling was the only vehicle involved in the crash which happened about 1500 BST. The Suzuki he was in was the only car in the crash which happened about 1500 BST. He died on Christmas Day.
The police said Mr McGovern died on Christmas Day. Police said his death was due to underlying health problems and not the accident.
They have appealed to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them.
The pensioner was the 116th person to die as a result of incidents on Northern Ireland's roads this year.
