She was found in an upstairs bedroom by a home help assistant, who called for an ambulance. Glengormley fire station commander, Mark Beresford, said it was believed the blaze had started accidentally.
Mr Beresford said it was after 1100 GMT when the Fire and Rescue Service got a call to say there had been a house fire fatality, and by that stage the blaze was "all but extinguished".
He said the victim had tried to escape from the fire in the living room, but had collapsed and died a short time later.
He added that the woman's home help assistant had found her in an upstairs bedroom later on Sunday morning and called for an ambulance.
