An early warning of heavy snow during Tuesday and Wednesday in parts of Wales and central England has been issued. Heavy snow is forecast across much of the UK during Tuesday, with several severe weather warnings in place.
The Met Office said Shropshire and Herefordshire may be affected, while high ground in eastern Wales could see snowfall above 25cm (9.8ins). The Met Office says northern Scotland, north east and central England and east Wales are all at risk, with up to 25cm (10in) possible on high ground.
Transport and power supplies are likely to face disruption, it added. Widespread icy roads are also likely across much of the northern UK and eastern Northern Ireland.

Overnight temperatures on Monday could fall as low as -8C in parts of Scotland and warnings of up to 10cm (4in) of snow are in place for Grampian, Orkney and Shetland, Highlands and Eilean Siar.
Forecasters expect sleet and snow to spread from the south during Tuesday, persisting well into Wednesday. On Tuesday, there are further snow warnings for Wales and the West Midlands, with 10-15cm (4-6in) widely forecast and up to 25cm in the Welsh hills.
