Police search for lone knifeman

Police have stepped up patrols on the streets of a Birmingham suburb in the hunt for man suspected of stabbing or attacking seven men. All the assaults have taken place in or close to Lozells Road. The latest took place on 23 December when a 40-year-old man was stabbed twice. The attacks began in June and all the victims have been men walking alone. The suspect usually has his face covered and is said to be black and aged between 18 and 30. Robbery ruled out Police said a knife was used or seen in all of the attacks. The victims were all men, out alone, and aged between 19 and 56. The attacker's motive is not known but police said they have ruled out robbery or racially motivated crime. The man attacked during the evening of 23 December, in Leonard Road, was not seriously injured. A team of more than 20 detectives are working on the investigation, police said. They have renewed appeals for anyone with information on the attacker, who is described as being between 5ft 8in and 6ft tall, to come forward. |
