Man shot in head with air rifle

A 30-year-old man was shot in the head with an air rifle as he used a cash machine in Greater Manchester.

The man was at Tesco Express on Upper Chorlton Road, Whalley Range, at 2300 GMT on Sunday when he was shot at from a nearby block of flats.

He was taken to hospital and underwent surgery to remove a pellet from the back of his head.

A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and has been bailed.

An air gun was seized from a flat.

Police appealed for any witnesses to contact officers.
