Five in custody over party death Woman charged over man's death
(about 16 hours later)
Seven people have been released without charge following 12 arrests over the discovery of a man found fatally wounded in a Lancashire street. A woman has been charged with the murder of a man who was found dead after a New Year's Eve party.
Kevin Rodgers, 23, was found lying in the road outside a property in Edgehill Crescent, Leyland, where a New Year's Eve party was taking place. Susan Kenny, 33, is accused of murdering Kevin Rogers, 23, who was killed by a single knife wound to the back in Leyland, Lancashire.
He died from a single stab wound to the back, a post-mortem examination showed. Mr Rogers died in the street after the party on Edgehill Crescent in the early hours of New Year's Day.
Three women and two men remain in custody and are continuing to be questioned on suspicion of murder. Ms Kenny, of Manor House Close, Leyland, will appear before Chorley Magistrates' Court on Monday.
It is understood Mr Rogers, who lived locally, had been a guest at the party. Eleven other people who were also arrested were released without charge.
Forensic examinations
He was found at about 0530 GMT on New Year's Day and died at the scene.
During the day, officers searched bins at the semi-detached property which had a smashed front window.
The area has been sealed off to allow for forensic investigations and an incident room set up at Chorley police station.
Det Supt Andy Webster said: "I want the community to know we are doing everything we can, and would still urge anyone who might know anything to come forward."
He said people who had been returning from New Year's Eve celebrations in the area may be able to help with the investigation.
