A crew from Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue service had to cut through timber and metal to release the pony from the barn at about 0950 GMT.

A fire service spokesman said the rescue happened at Northfield farm near Longridge in West Lothian.

The spokesman added that the pony was uninjured.
