There has been no official word on an abduction from the Ethiopian government so far. "We heard about an abduction and we are trying to confirm their whereabouts," Bereket Simon, communications adviser to Ethiopia's prime minister, told AFP news agency.
"The government is monitoring the situation," a spokesman for the information ministry said, adding that a statement would be released later in the day. "We'll try our best to ensure their safety," he said.
