Frazer Bradshaw, 34, was attacked outside the St James of Cowley pub in Cowley, west London.

Police and paramedics found him unconscious on the pavement at 0320 GMT on 1 January. He remained in a coma but died on Monday.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Two other men, aged 21 and 26, have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and released on bail.

Acting Det Insp Craig Jones, said: "At this early stage we believe that Mr Bradshaw was acting as a peacemaker whilst a fight broke out between two groups at around 3.10am inside the pub.

"This fight was to continue outside the pub where he was fatally assaulted."
