Firefighters have rescued an elderly man who was trapped in marsh land at a nature reserve in West Lothian.

They had been called to the Black Moss reserve, near Armadale, on Saturday evening to deal with a grass fire.

When they arrived, they heard cries for help and discovered the 74-year-old in marsh land near a pond.

He was thought to have been trapped for at least 30 minutes and was treated for the effects of the cold and shock by an ambulance crew.
