It has started an investigation into the cause of the fire.
The spokesman added: "As a result of the incident at Berrylands station, some lines have been closed, which has caused significant delays to trains and congestion on the South West Trains network.
"We would like to thank passengers for their understanding during the incident and we are very sorry for the significant inconvenience caused."
