Two men have been killed in a car crash just outside Omagh in County Tyrone on Thursday afternoon. Two teenagers have been killed and another critically injured when a car crashed into a tractor and trailer in County Tyrone.
The pair, understood to have been in their teens, were involved in an accident on the Killyclogher Road shortly after 1500 GMT. The collision happened on the Killyclogher Road, between Omagh and Cookstown, shortly after 1500 GMT on Thursday.
Two vehicles were involved. A third man was critically injured in the accident. The scene of the accident remained cordoned off overnight but the road has since reopened to traffic.
Police have not yet released the names of the two men who were killed. They have appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them. SDLP councillor Josephine Deehan said the local community was "in shock".
"The driving conditions were hazardous, the roads were icy, temperatures were sub-zero," she added.
"Its very very sad that just when we had safely gotten over Christmas and the new year, that these young men have lost their lives."
Sinn Fein councillor Anne Marie Fitzgerald said the deaths had stunned people in the Omagh area.
"From where the accident was, the fellows lived locally about a mile up the road.
"They were heavily involved in a GAA team from what I can gather.
"One worked in a shop near the scene. Everybody is devastated," she said.
