Second charge over 1999 shooting

A second man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting in Gateshead 10 years ago.

The body of John Hall, 34, of Windsor Avenue in the town, was found in a back alley in Bensham on 4 August 1999. He had been shot in the head.

John Sadiq, 39, of Newcastle's Bentinck Road, has been charged with conspiracy to cause GBH and is due to appear before South Tyneside magistrates.

On Friday Bedfordshire man Steven Hardy was charged with Mr Hall's murder.

The 34-year-old, of Leven Walk, Bedford, is due to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on 22 January.
