Driver flees after girl injured

A teenager has been injured and the family dog killed in a hit-and-run accident in Derbyshire.

The 17-year-old girl was walking with her family on Long Lane at Alkmonton on Saturday evening when she was hit by the vehicle which failed to stop.

Police said she was taken to Royal Derby Hospital for treatment, but the nature of her injuries was not known.

Officers appealed for information about any newly-damaged vehicles, but were unable to describe the car involved.
