Up to 60 youths have been involved in fighting at Bann Drive in Londonderry's Waterside area, the police have said.

A BBC reporter at the scene said about 30 nationalist youths are involved in a stand-off with loyalist youths from the Irish Street area.

Irish Street residents said trouble began after people returning from a gaelic football match threw stones.

A number of police Land Rovers have been hit by stones. Motorists have been advised to avoid the area.
