Black ice causes multiple pile-up Seven injured in motorway pile-up

A patch of black ice is believed to have caused a 25-vehicle pile-up on a motorway in Greater Manchester. Seven people have been injured in a multi-vehicle pile-up on a motorway in Greater Manchester.
It is unclear how many casualties there are, but police confirmed a number of people were injured in the rush-hour crash on the A627M. Up to 10 vehicles collided on the A627M, near Oldham, at 0800 GMT. There were several minor collisions behind the main incident, police said.
Drivers have been warned to avoid the area after the vehicles were in collision near junction 20, at Oldham. It is thought the vehicles may have skidded on a patch of black ice.
A number of adjoining roads are also in the process of being closed. The A627M is closed northbound between Broadway and Slattocks Link Road, the Highways Agency said. A number of adjoining roads have also been closed.
