Arrest after bus collision death

A man has been arrested after a pedestrian died when he was hit by a double-decker bus in Birmingham.

Police said the 43-year-old man from the Longbridge area was hit by the bus at about 2120 GMT in New Street, Frankley.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the man was trapped under the bus and died at the scene soon after.

Police said one man had been arrested and was currently helping officers with their enquiries.

They urged anyone who saw the incident to contact Bournville Lane police station.
