SDLP MLA Dolores Kelly condemned the shooting.
"Unfortunately, the many good people of Kilwilkie have had to live under the jackboot of the paramilitaries for far too long," she said.
"There are those who seem destined to try to take people back to the worst years of the Troubles. I think members right across the community should condemn and will condemn this type of violence."
