A police officer is to be charged with causing death by dangerous driving, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has said.

A patrol car driven by Pc David Allen, 34, hit pedestrian Ian Hambrey on Doncaster Road, Doncaster in March last year.

Mr Hambrey, 49, from Doncaster, died from his injuries.

Mr Allen is to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court on 29 January to be formally charged, the IPCC said.

The Crown Prosecution Service said a second police officer who was a passenger in the car will not face criminal charges.
