The pathologist said that two of the stab wounds damaged 15-year-old Thomas's aorta - the main artery to his heart - and a lung.
He said Thomas had been stabbed four times in the back, twice in the arm, and once in the left eye, abdomen and hip.
He added that it was possible that the wounds to the Thomas's hands had been caused when he raised his arms in self-defence.
