A man has appeared in court in connection with a suspicious package which sparked widespread traffic disruption in Aberdeen.

Colin Pirie, 27, made no plea after being charged with contravening the Criminal Law Act by placing a package on the Guild Street bridge.

Mr Pirie, of Aberdeen, was remanded in custody at the city's sheriff court.

Part of the city centre was sealed off, and road and rail traffic disrupted for several hours, on Thursday.
