Version 0 of 1.

Police say they are investigating after a 20-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by a man near a nightclub.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after an incident near the Essence club on The Kingsway, Swansea, at around 0130 GMT early on Friday.

The suspect, described as white, 18 to 20 years old, had long, straight fair hair, and was wearing a grey shirt with a large skull motif.

Police have appealed for anyone in or around the nightclub to come forward.

The victim went with the man to a secluded alcove in a lane running between Barclays Bank and Bar Tahiti on the Kingsway, where she was attacked, said police.

The suspect is said to have a slim build, and was also wearing a blue short-sleeved shirt, black "skinny" jeans and pointed shoes.

Det Insp Andy Hughes of Swansea police said: "Although this incident happened during the early hours of the morning, there would still have been a number of people in and around the vicinity of the Kingsway.

"They may well have seen this man or even know him, as the T-shirt with the skull motif is quite distinctive."

He added: "I would like to reassure members of the public that incidents of this nature in Swansea are few and far between."

Officers are appealing to anyone with relevant information or can assist with the man's identity to contact police in Swansea on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
