Murderer missing for three years

Graham Dean, 63, failed to return to Prescoed open prison near Usk on 16 June, 2006, and Gwent Police are re-appealing for information. He was convicted of murdering his father in 1981 but was released on parole in 1992 then recalled for a minor breach of the licence in 1996. Dean is believed to have contacts in Cardiff, Bristol and Dorset. Police advise the public not to approach Dean, who may be a potential risk because he is no longer in prison service custody. He is not a sex offender. He is described as 5ft 9in (1.75m) tall with greying hair, and of a slight build. Len Dean was found dead at the council house he shared with his son Graham Dean was found guilty on 17 November, 1981 of the murder of his father Alfred - also known as Len - who was found strangled at the family home in Nantyglo, Blaenau Gwent by a neighbour and another son in the July. Gwent Police said earlier appeals had been made for information about Dean's whereabouts without success. Efforts to track him down and catch him are ongoing, a spokeswoman said.
