Couple injured during armed raid

A couple have been injured during a break-in at their home in Newry.

Shortly after 2300 GMT on Friday, two masked men, one armed with a handgun or starting pistol, forced their way into a house at Killeen School Road.

During a struggle with the householder a shot was fired. The householder suffered a broken hand during the incident and his wife a head injury.

The couple's 11-year-old daughter was unharmed but badly shaken. The robbers escaped with cash and the family's car.

The vehicle is a black Volkswagen Passat.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
