Woman, 89, dies after house fire

The cause of a house fire is under investigation after a woman aged 89 died following the incident.

Police and firefighters are trying to establish how the fire at the property in Tonna, Neath Port Talbot started.

Ella Doreen Hughes was pulled from the building but later pronounced dead. Her death is being treated as unexplained.

The fire broke out at the house in Heol Y Glo on Tuesday at 1045 GMT. A post mortem examination on Ms Hughes's body is expected to be carried out.
