Boy, 17, shot dead on Merseyside Man arrested over boy's gun death

A 17-year-old boy has been shot dead on Merseyside, sparking a major police investigation. A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy at a house on Merseyside.
Detectives were called to reports of the teenager being shot at a house on Hathersage Road, in the Longview area of Huyton, just before 1600 GMT. Lewis O'Brien was shot inside the property on Hathersage Road, in the Longview area of Huyton, just before 1600 GMT.
The boy, who has been named locally as Lewis O'Brien, was taken to hospital but died shortly afterwards. The teenager was taken to hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.
Police said an 18-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the shooting. Merseyside Police said an 18-year-old man, from Huyton, had been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody for questioning.

Det Ch Insp Richard Carr, senior investigating officer, said: "We are at the very early stages of our investigation and officers are trying to piece what has gone on in the lead-up to this incident.
"I would like to appeal to anyone with any information about the incident or events leading up to it to come forward.
"There is no place for guns on the streets of Merseyside and with the help of, and information from, the community we will relentlessly pursue this investigation."
