Police investigating a gangland murder in Glasgow have issued a fresh appeal for help - almost three weeks after the victim died in a supermarket car park.

Kevin "Gerbil" Carroll, 29, was shot dead in the Asda car park in Saughs Road, Robroyston, on 13 January.

He had alleged links to organised crime in the city and had survived two previous attempts on his life.

The firearms used in the shooting were found last week behind Coatbridge Library in North Lanarkshire.

Two masked men, who are believe to have carried out the shooting, made off in a dark blue Volkswagen Golf which was driven by a third man. The vehicle had the registration number YF55 EZZ.

The vehicle, missing the number plates, was later recovered burned out in Yetts Hole Road, Glenmavis, Airdrie.

Vital information

Det Ch Insp Iain Cunningham said he believed people with crucial information had still to come forward.

He said: "We have spoken to residents and members of the public in the Glenmavis and Coatbridge areas where the car and weapons were discovered, but I am sure that there are those who may have information and have not yet spoken to officers.

"I would ask people to think carefully as they may have seen something that could be vital to our investigation."

Det Ch Insp Cunningham said he wanted to know if anyone was seen behaving suspiciously behind Coatbridge Library or if a car had been parked close by.

He also wants to know if anyone has heard other people talking about the shooting and if anyone has information about the getaway car and people inside.
