Crash on M8 causes massive delays

A four-vehicle crash on the M8 in the centre of Glasgow, involving a van carrying medical equipment, caused a tailback of about eight miles. Two lorries and two vans were involved in the accident at about 0700 GMT near the Hilton hotel. Police said a 50-year-old man was slightly injured in the crash. The vehicles were removed from the motorway and it was washed down as a "precaution", as one of the vans was carrying medical chemicals. Police said the containers containing the chemicals were not broken in the crash and there was no leakage The M8 westbound reopened at 0940 GMT. At its worst the tailback ran to junction 8 Baillieston. |
