Police have confirmed that a rescue operation was launched just after 1100 GMT on Thursday after the incident on Crib Goch. The experienced hillwalker, who was 60 and from the Greater Manchester area, was with his son-in-law, who raised the alarm on his mobile phone on Crib Goch.
Mountain rescue teams and an RAF rescue helicopter were called to the area to search for the walker. Police have confirmed that a rescue operation was launched just after 1100 GMT on Thursday.
North Wales Police said he was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor where he was pronounced dead. The 19-strong Llanberis mountain rescue team and an RAF rescue helicopter were involved in the search.
