Mobile phone footage of an incident which led to the death of a 30-year-old football fan is being sought.

John Taylor, of Avallon Way, Darwen, Lancashire, was taken to hospital after being found unconscious at the Britannia Stadium, Stoke-on-Trent.

He later died and post-mortem tests revealed the cause of death to be a head injury.

Police appealed for witnesses to the incident, which happened during Stoke City's match against Blackburn.

Mr Taylor was found unconscious in the South Stand concourse, which was being used by the visiting fans, shortly after half time on Saturday.

He is thought to have been hit on the head with a bin.

A Staffordshire Police spokeswoman appealed for any witnesses, particularly those who may have caught the incident on their mobile phones, to contact them.

A 25-year-old man from Preston, Lancashire, has been questioned and bailed over the death.
