"Fixer" Craig Kelbie, 35, was sentenced to 11 years and getaway driver Francis McGlone, 39, was given a 10-year term.
The court heard Sakur planned the assassination because of debts owed to Mr Demarco, a claim which the victim denied.
'Felt a thud' | |
The court was told the plot began in April 2008 when Sakur approached Kelbie about recruiting others to make the hit.
He then approached Robertson and McGlone to carry out the murder in return for payment.
Jurors were told that property agent Mr Demarco was targeted by Robertson and McGlone as he left the casino.
The jury heard how the pair took a gun to the casino where Robertson pulled the trigger.
During the trial, Mr Demarco, from Danderhall, Midlothian, told jurors the bullet used to try to kill him was still lodged in his cheek and could not be removed because it was so close to his carotid artery and important nerves.
'Loaded weapon' | |
He described being gunned down as he returned to his car.
He said: "As I went to open my car door I heard a bang and felt a thud behind my ear, my right ear.
"I turned. I tried to get away from the pain while clutching my head, then walked round the car to the pavement. I thought I had been assaulted."
Labourer McGlone, from Paisley, bricklayer Robertson, from Paisley, property developer Sakur, from Broughty Ferry, Dundee, and unemployed panel beater Kelbie, from Dundee, had all denied the charges against them. | Labourer McGlone, from Paisley, bricklayer Robertson, from Paisley, property developer Sakur, from Broughty Ferry, Dundee, and unemployed panel beater Kelbie, from Dundee, had all denied the charges against them. |
Sentencing them at the High Court in Edinburgh, judge Lord Kinclaven said: "Conspiracy to assault and murder is an extremely serious matter particularly where it involves the discharge of a loaded weapon and the attempted murder of Mr Demarco in a public street." | Sentencing them at the High Court in Edinburgh, judge Lord Kinclaven said: "Conspiracy to assault and murder is an extremely serious matter particularly where it involves the discharge of a loaded weapon and the attempted murder of Mr Demarco in a public street." |
