Lakhvir Singh, 45, had denied murder and attempting to murder Miss Choongh. Lakhvir Singh, 45, had denied murder. An Old Bailey jury found her not guilty of attempting to murder Miss Choongh.
Singh was also found not guilty of attempting to murder Ms Choongh, who survived the attack in January last year. But she was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm by poisoning Ms Choongh in the attack in Janaury 2009.
The couple had been due to marry two week before the murder. The court heard Singh could not bear the thought of her lover's marriage to another woman.
Edward Brown, QC, prosecuting had told the Old Bailey: "Perhaps jealousy, anger and revenge all playing their part, Lakvir Singh decided to poison them using an extremely toxic and deadly poison, possibly brought especially from India." Mr Cheema and Miss Choongh, who had been due to marry on Valentine's Day last year, fell ill after eating leftover curry which had been in the fridge of their home in Feltham.
The couple had eaten a curry together at Mr Cheema's home in Feltham, west London, and then had become violently ill. Within hours, Mr Cheema was dead and Miss Choongh was fighting for her life after being poisoned with Indian aconite - known as the Queen of Poisons.
