Hugh McFall, 48, is believed to have killed his wife, Susan, 55, and Francesca, 18, in Hampton Road, Oswestry, before taking his own life. Police, who said they were called early on 5 February, added the investigation is likely to take several months. The hearing at Shrewsbury Magistrates' Court was adjourned until a date that has to be fixed. The bodies of the women were found dead on the same day as Mrs McFall's husband, the court heard. 'Family tragedy' Det Insp Michael Homden, of West Mercia Police, told the inquest both women died of a head injury, while Mr McFall was found hanged. Giving evidence to John Ellery, Coroner for Mid and North Shropshire, Mr Homden said the women's bodies were found after officers received a call to attend their home at about 0500 GMT. The detective said inquiries then led police to go to an industrial estate, at St Martins, and the body of a man was found hanging inside there. Mr Homden confirmed post-mortem examinations had been carried out by Home Office pathologist Alexander Kolar, who found the causes of death to be a head injury in the case of both Mrs McFall and her daughter. West Mercia Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths, which they have described as a "family tragedy". The hearing continues. |
