Man killed in A85 road accident

A 40-year-old man has died and a man and woman are in a critical condition following a road crash near Oban in Argyll and Bute.

Police said a Renault Megane collided with a Vauxhall Corsa on the A85 at Taynuilt at about 1950 GMT on Thursday.

The Megane driver died at the scene. The 22-year-old Corsa driver and his 25-year-old female passenger remain in a critical condition in hospital.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to the crash to contact them.

The crash happened between Muckairn Bridge and Fearnoch at Taynuilt.

The Corsa driver was taken to hospital in Oban before being transferred by air ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

His female passenger was also taken in hospital in Oban before being transferred by air ambulance to the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow.
